Toledo Goaldiggers Turner Cup celebration at the Toledo Sports Arena on May 24, 1978. During the game, the air conditioning gave out and players had to act as human fans skating away the fog that would settle onto the ice.

The team featured notable players Paul Tantardini, Jim McCabe — voted MVP of the team — and Mike Eruzione, who would later gain worldwide acclaim as a member United States “Miracle On Ice” 1980 Olympic hockey team that defeated the USSR.

The Goaldiggers won the IHL championship in 1975, ‘78, ‘82 and ‘83.
